Last night I installed a new mother board (DFI NFII Ultra B) With a AMD 2700+ XP 2.17ghz. With 2 sticks of 256 Remington ram.

The problem isnt the components nor the BIOS.

I turn on the computer and I get the normal splash screen for my graphics card. And the new splash screen for the mother board (press TAB to show post sreen, press DEL to enter BIOS). So that clears and the next is to set up a RAID drive press f6.

So as it starts to begin to go load windows I get the black screen with white text. Windows has encountered a prob, blah blah blah. make a selection - Start in Safe Mode - Safe Mode with Networking etc etc. Start Windows Normally. Use last good Config.

So I pick and choose between them all and no matter which I choose the monitor clicks to a new screen shows me the "Windows Professional" Loading screen for a split second. And then the whole process starts over again and within sec. im at the same place where I have to choose how I want Windows to boot.

Any suggestions? I looked in the BIOS it recognizes all the parts and my CPU is underclocked by .01 :( .

Help me plz :\
 
Did you delete all the drives from your old MB in windows before installing the new one? If not then I think you are Fudged. Unless a repair install works.
 
Well, when you install mobo, it's really a good idea to reinstall Windows.

Though if you have important files, you could either A.) Try repair install, or B.) hook drive up to another machine as a slave to get the files.

All I have are games and stuff.

Now to reinstall Windows all I have to do is plop my Windows XP Pro CD in there and reinstall?

I might have to wait to get home to see if that works D:
 
Yeah, boot off the XP Pro CD.

You'll probably have to call MS since you changed the mobo in the system (which requires reactivation).

How long will that take to reactivate?

And if I gets activated will I have to still reinstall windows?

Since you are instaling Windows it will have to be reactivated, I believe you have 30 day's to comply.

I dont know if I'm even going to reinstall windows.

And if I do and things go according to plan (oh God I hope so). All I have to do is call 1800-Microsoftpwnedmynewsystem (Something like that).

Buuut if i dont reinstall i still call MS and all they have to do is reactivate and my compy boots up normally w/o me reinstallinf Windows?

No. The reason that this is happening is because your switched Motherboards, and your current installation of Windows still has all the Driver's and Files from your old Motherboard on there. You are going to have to re-install Windows for it to work properly. You can't just call them up and they flip a switch and ta-da it works.

You have to install Windows again to get your System working with the correct Motherboard Driver's. Then once it is re-installed, you then Re-Activate Windows.

Yay.

Been so excited forgot to post. I got my computer up and running on Thursday. :D

So far so good.

AMD 2700+ 2.17ghz
512 - 2 sticks of 256 Remington RAM
DFI nForce II Lanparty Ultra B Mother board
[Insert new grahpics card here]

reinstall windows.

really simple fix. now for my new 9800pro for em to buy and this will be a kick ass system
