Windows 8 UAC missing

Hi,

I hope someone out there will be able to help me out. Just today I noticed my User controls no longer worked when I attempted to delete a few files on a old hard drive
First I tried to change the security permission of the folder and got a strange error under Windows Security "Can't open access control editor. The activation requires a display name to be present under the CLSID key."
Also, under metro PC Settings, there is no User tab anymore. This error of some kind seems to be extremely rare as I spent the last 4 hours trying to figure out how to fix it.
So far I tried logging in with the other administrator account and got the same error!

Sounds like CCleaner broke your registry. Google that 2nd sentence.

lol! I actually had a look at that but I haven't used CCleaner.

I ran sfc /scannow as a first solution and it did fix something but when I tried to read the report it gave me a error about permissions

I like CCleaner (still does what its suppose to), but the registry cleaner has been fubar since Vista launched (do not use it). I also had issues with deleting some old files, I believe I finally had to delete them from the command prompt (make sure you open it as Admin). This was pre installing CCleaner and I do not use the registry cleaner feature anymore.

Thanks for the replies, I think one of the reasons its so rare is due to a low windows 8 install base and this issue seems to started to appear in the last couple of weeks
going to try refresh pc option
