Going to be re-doing my Windows 8 Pro setup .. and I'll have

1TB x 3
1.5TB
2TB sized drives

going to be housing movies mainly to be shared over my network for streaming

Was wondering if using Storage spaces would be better or just setting up multiple shares

A lot of people have done a lot of research on Storage Spaces and the general consensus is not to trust your live data to it just yet. I've heard of reports of missing space, poor performance in parity mode, and other quirks that makes me nervous trusting my data to it before a service pack that may fix some things.

If you're looking to protect the data against a drive failure, maybe look into SnapRAID, FlexRAID, Drive Bender, or just copying the data over manually.

Here are some threds with relevant research:

Storage Spaces - missing capacity?
win8 "Storage Spaces" good option?
I want to combine my drives into one large disk.
Parity Storage: Storage Spaces vs FlexRAID?
Windows 8 Preview / I am playing with Storage Spaces (old, but Storage Spaces hasn't changed much since the preview)

thanks a bunch .. been looking at other threads here as well to read up on everything
