Windows 8 and No internet Ugh

So I upgraded the wifes computer to windows 8 Pro from windows 7 Ultimate. Everything worked fine in Win 7 but not that I have installed Windows 8 I cant get internet to work.

It worked for about 10 minutes after initial install, I did a reboot on the system and now it wont work.

I get an "Unidentified Network". It says its a public network and wont let me change it to a private. Ive gone through steps to force it to a private network but it doesnt make a difference either way.

I am connected via Ethernet cable.

I have tried finding an Ethernet driver upgrade for Marrvell 88E1116 - Integrated 10/100/1000 Transceiver but its an older motherboard and not having much luck.

Googling it I have tried multiple different things online but to no avail.

Frusterating. Has anyone else had this problem?

Did you do the compatibility check prior to installing? It's possible your motherboard is simply not compatible. Have you tried contacting Microsoft support? You have warranty.

Try to rollback the Ethernet driver, windows 8 may have installed an updated driver that doesn't work well. I know it did that with a wifi card that I had.
