I have found out that the store sell the new computer with windows 8 and I'm wondering if they are going to sell windows 7 for ever or everything will change for windows 8?

What windows 9 will look like? Normal desktop or this new windows 8 thing?

Anybody got something about these two question?

Windows 7 will stop being sold in all channels within the next year or two.

Windows 9 (and/or Windows Blue) will retain the Start Screen. The Start Button isn't supposed to be coming back.

My crystal ball said that Windows 9 will require a peripheral that plugs into your brain and projects the interface on the back of your eyeballs and requires you to navigate by blinking and making a series of clicks and whistles.

awesome

Since Microsoft has put Windows on the old Everquest expansion schedule, we'll find out more about Windows 9 this summer, but like Firefox and Chrome, it won't be huge changes all at once with nothing in between for 6 years.

Windows 8 is ok, I don't see the big deal that everyone is making about it. I still like 7 more because its more like what we've all used for so long now, and 8 takes some time getting used to. I actually only got 8 because it was so cheap. I guess it looks like I'll be using 7 for as long as XP lol.

I would just keep Win 7 if you can. I bought a laptop with Win 8 and it has been nothing but issues. It has difficulty restarting, applying updates, freezes (this might not be Win 8), has annoying Charms that pop up out of nowhere even if your cursor is not against the corners (bad feature to begin with) and other issues.

To top it off, there is an annoying interface (Modern/Metro) which is extremely unintuitive and you are forced to go into it every now and then even if you run something like Classic Shell. No Aero makes the folders and UI in general look ugly though this is not that big of a deal.

I think I've had more issues with Win 8 applying updates and restarting in a weeks worth of use than I did with Vista 64bit for 2 1/2 years. :p

If you have a Synaptics track pad the edge swipes can be disabled. You might also want to look into using the latest driver from Synaptics which might be better than the one supplied by your OEM: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

Just applied the January 2013 updates on my Samsung 500T which where kind of big and updated Office 2013 as well. No issues.

windows 7 will phase out soon as i'm sure MS wants 8 to be mainstream. i believe volume and open licensing does allow you to downgrade but as for a retail setting, 7 will go bye-bye soon. as far as 9 goes?... well, that's to be seen.

Windows 8 is/was supposed to bring the ability to digest and consume content to a new level. On a touch interface I think it does a good job of that. The keyboard and mouse interface feels much like a second class citizen and may parts of the OS feel disconnected or incomplete. Windows 8 did not focus on the enterprise desktop or being a content creation/development platform. Windows 9 is supposed to smooth out those issues with a strong focus on development/content creation and enterprise integration.

The start menu will not return, but hopefully they fix some of the other lingering issues.

If you look at the windows longhorn (the original concept) and look at all the missing features that have not yet been released you'll see some of the upcoming features that have not been released.

As I learned at the most recent Microsoft Conference. If you treat Windows 8 as if it were a phone and the charms bar are the same as the buttons at the bottom an android phone you'll think your way through Windows 8 a lot quicker.

The integration between the desktop and Metro can certainly be improved but I've had no issue running and using the same desktop programs as I did in Windows 7 use as Office and Visual Studio. When you add Metro apps into the mix it does complicate things but few would be using Metro apps as this point for content creation of professional workstation purposes.

Yeah its because its all but impossible to have a complex content creation in metro due to the fact the Modern API sucks gigantic, sweaty, cheese incrusted dicks.

Except the Navigation bar on an android is STATIC it doesn't fucking disapear on you. That is one of my biggest complaints. The passive alement of go to a fucking corner and wait for it to fucking show up is stupid it JUST SHOULD BE FUCKING VISIBLE ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

If Windows 8 actually worked the way that some describe here I doubt I'd use it. This notion that you have to wait for something to show up when using the hot corners. The hot corner is always there and the elements show up instantly.

Not liking what's in Windows 8 is fine, clearly you don't like any of it but your descriptions don't actually often seem to be talking about Windows 8.

Persistent charms bar with a taskbar would be annoying as hell. Also, it appears instantly if you move it to the corner and move the mouse down right away.
