So I was able to create Win 7 install USB drive with USB 3.0 support. Ran through the install procedure perfectly fine. After the last reboot you need to assign your name and login.

Well that's where the problem occurs. This computer is brand new and I am "downgrading" from W10 to W7 and all it has is USB ports for connections.

It will not see any keyboard or mouse I plug in so that I can enter this info and finish things up.

Any ideas how to deal with this?

You need to slipstream the USB 3.0 drivers into your Windows 7 image. It's possible you only slip streamed them into the WinPE image (used during install).

Or, some manufacturers (like Asus) are creating utilities that will create a 7 ISO that has the USB drivers.

Windows 7 is starting to see the same type of issues we ran into with XP regarding drivers.

You could also try PS/2 keyboard if you have a slot.

Hmm I used Intel's utility to make an installable USB 3 Win 7 drive guess it went only to the PE portion as you stated. Argghh what a pain.

This is a new store bought HP machine, no PS2 connections at all.
