I'm wondering if anyone can do a quick checkup on their system if you have Win7 64 bit as OS. Here is the situation:

I set to hide the taskbar. Everything is fine except for that I have noticed when I close a folder or an application, the taskbar pops up once in a while. It doesn't happen all the time. I think it's probably just Windows7 , but want to be sure.

Could you check if this happens on your computer as well? For example, click on the windows explorer pinned to your taskbar, then open some folders and navigate for a bit then close the explorer, see if the hidden taskbar pops up. Or open task manager then close it.

If you could let me know, that would be great. You may want to test it for a few times since it doesn't happen all the time and I have no idea why the behaviors are not consistent.

Thanks a lot!

here is what I noticed:
- open any folder > click win key on the keyboard to open start menu (taskbar appears and the window will be inactive) > from start menu open "my computer" > close the folder and taskbar will pop up
- open any folder > click win key+E to open "my computer" folder over the old folder > close it > you'll see the old folder (active) and taskbar won't pop up
so maybe it pops up when you close a window while the window behind it is inactive.

hey firas, thanks for trying this for me! i get a completely different result each time I do this. I think whether it will pop up or not is completely random. Could you just try to open a folder then close it without going to start menu? Also, try open your browser and close it right away see what happens. Thanks! Again try a few times to see if you get a different result.

I think it's a bug for some reason.

Cheers

I tried and seems to me it only pops up when you close or minimize a window while the window behind it is inactive. from a quick google search looks like something in the notification area might cause it to pop up.

Thanks for trying again. I disabled all notification area icons, so my case doesn't seem to be icon related.

It's obvious enough just trying with one folder. Open just one folder then close it ... try a few times, you may see the taskbar's behavior is totally random - sometimes it pops sometimes it doesn't. Does this also happen to you, firas? on a side note, if it doesn't pop the first time. it won't pop the next time you try; but if it pops again, it will keep popping. just weird. A sure way to make it pop seems to be just open task manager alone then close it.

The only sure way not to make it pop is open a folder then click on some blank area on the desktop. then when you close the folder, it won't pop up.

I actually think if the folder is flagged as active, the taskbar will pop up.
