looking to create an image to load on a new hard drive. but when i go through the process i get the dreaded

"a volume shadow copy service operation failed. please check "vss" and "spp" application event logs for more information (0x807800a1)
additional information: the writer experienced a non-transient error. if the backup process is retired, the error is likely to reoccur (0x800423f4)"

i've checked the services and tried it set to manual, auto, and auto delayed and i still get the error.

any ideas? or better yet, another program i can use to create an image and load on a fresh hd?

hmmm. could bad sectors on my old hd cause it not to back up? i just ran true image 2013 and got an error as well.

ok got it working. there was an option to skip bad sectors so i did that. up and running on my new hd.

must say that acronis is a great backup program
