I am considering making a LAN file/print server from one of my computers. It has the following specs:
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L (NO hardware raid built-in)
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
160gb hdd (OS+data)
It will be used by four family members using different computers and operating systems (vista, 7, mac, linux). The server will mostly hold pictures and videos (approx 100gb).
Is it a good idea to get two SSD drives and put them in RAID 1? I don't care about speed, just reliability. I guess SSDs are more energy efficient and possibly more reliable than HDDs.
SSD1: SanDisk Ultra SDSSDH-120G-G25 2.5" 120GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
SSD2: Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe MKNSSDCL120GB-DX 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
