I need a good hopefully *free* program to get some data back off a drive that I formatted prior to switching to windows 7. I have all my important files backed up but there were a few VM's and other small things that I didn't know were on there and I didn't back them up before reformatting the drive. It's a secondary drive so its no OS or anything on it, it was simply used just to backup a few things.

Please give me a program to try and see how much data I can get back.

For all those who consider loss of data as a serious threat, then it’s high time to change that illusion because with the help of Kernel for Windows Data Recovery it is very much possible to recover data instantly. This software is very much capable of recovering data in almost all situations and can be considered as best option to restore the data lost from computer's hard disk.
... and we also need to change the illusion that something you pay for is always better than something free. Recuva is completely free.
