I very recently put together a new build for myself with a friend. Everything was great until the audio and visual would occasionally lock up for a second. The screen momentarily freezes and the sound makes what I can only describe as a digital stutter.

After looking into it I found it is something to do with latency as latency checks were often requested in troubleshooting with similar problems, I've attached mine below to show examples using 2 different Latency checkers.

My build:
•Asus P8Z68-V/GEN3 Motherboard
•Intel Sandybridge i5-2500K Unlocked Core i5 Quad-Core Processor (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket 1155)
• 2 x Asus 1GB GeForce GTX 560TI DirectCUII PCI-E Graphics Cardsrunning in SLi
• Wireless network is aTP-Link TL-WN781ND 150Mbps Wireless PCI Express Adapter
• Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz CL9 1.5V Non-ECC Unbuffered
• Running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1, 64-bit

I'm pretty sure it's related to uTorrent as it only seems to do it when it's on.
I can force this to happen by running uTorrent, opening a couple of youtube videos, surfing the net and running iTunes simultaneously.

If you have any ideas where to start please let me know and ill report back with what I find.

try a different wireless card would be my first suggestion. i had similar happenings with a linksys wmp300n, changed over to a d-link and the stuttering went away.

Disabled my wireless network card borrowed a friends very long Ethernet cable. I've had absolutely no problems since using a wired connection. Gonna order a new wireless card and see if that one works like you said. I'll report back soon! Thanks :)

The new network card works great, no problems! ^___^ Thanks very much! :)
For anyone else with similar problems, I purchased a Linksys WMP 600 N Wireless-N Dual Band Adapter

This issue reminded me of my bad experience with a laptop and Nvidia 8400GS. Powermizer would freeze up the system like your problem every time the core clock changes.

Intel wireless cards (5x00 was the most recent I tested) are also not free from the problem, though the latency isn't that bad, around 2000 microseconds. Glad to see it's a happy ending for you, these issues are horrible to deal with.

It's back, it just doesn't happen as much. I had my computer on for a long while before i noticed one! :(

DPC latency recommends you go into your device manager and disable things like network adapters, sound cards and unused storage controllers, while monitoring the latency. When you disable the device causing the issues, you'll know it.
