Hey guys I just installed the Windows 7 beta on my Media Center PC which has an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard. Being the HTPC is so far away from any router in my room I use the build in WiFi on the board for my net connection. The problem is is that the Vista driver setup program for the WiFi does no work on Windows 7. It says it is incompatible with the op sys.

Are there any work arounds or generic drivers I can look for? The WiFi component of the board is not even detected in the device manager of Windows 7.

Thanks guys

I would try loading the drivers manually. Instead of running their setup file, look around in the directories around the setup file to see if you can find any drivers and do an "update driver" thing in device manager.

Or... run the setup file, and when it extracts it's file into your profile's temp directory, grab the raw driver files from there and load manually into device manager.

Like I said, The WiFi network adapter does not even show up in the Device Manager, meaning I cant do an Update Driver thing manually

Are you sure? I don't have your motherboard, but I would expect it to show up as unknown network interface or something similar. It's going to be located on the PCI/PCIe bus, it's most likely going to be a plug-in-play device, so it should show up as something...

I fixed it, I borrowed a really long cat5 and hooked it up directly. windows update kicked in and bam, the wifi device was detected and installed and instantly started working. god i love windows 7
