Not sure whats going on here...it keeps opening explorer.exe twice. Several times during the day. It leads to system hiccups and performance degradation.

All signs point to...there only being one explorer.exe on the machine. I'm not sure whats going on and I've found absolutely nothing searching for the issue.

Build 7100 RC, anyone have a clue?

Check the running process in safemode and check registry editor if necessary for some unwanted malware or spywares are running.

everything is clean man...it just seems for some reason that I haven't pinned down yet that windows keeps opening a second instance of explorer.

Did you turn on the option "launch folder windows in a separate process" if so, that's the correct behavior.

I just double-checked to see if this option was turned on, and it is not. The occurrence of a second explorer process persists whether there are folders open or not as well....
