I'm trying to install a game, but I get this error. Internal Failure Error 0x80040707. I've looked all over for a few days, and all of the solutions are from a few years ago. Any help would be much appreciated.

threads may be old, but may still be relevant.
I did a quick search on Google, and it points the issue having to do with the InstallShield.
Found some posts regarding Unreal2, BG2, etc.

since it's related to InstallShield, older threads may still be relevant.

just scroll to the bottom of that for a possible fix, although I'm not sure how similar the XP and Vista/7 registries are, but this is a "fix" directly from InstallShield.

Unfortunately I had already tried those things, and it still doesn't work. :<

I can't get the game to even begin installing, so I'm not sure where I would even disable 3d acceleration.

It's been a while since I've tried installing BG2, but I think I just changed the exe to use windows compatibility mode and checked "run as administrator" and the installer ran just fine.

I've tried every compatibility mode and ran as administrator, but still nothing. I'm about to just say screw it and give up.

I've never had any of those old black isle games work very well. Try it in VMware with a 2000/XP install, it's likely due to windows 7.
