I was recently running a update for windows 7 and the electricity went out. When I tried to restart it, it would hang at the starting windows screen. I even tried safe mode, restore, and to restore with the disc and it still hangs at that screen. I ran memtest and it passed I even ran a check on the hard drive and it tested out ok. So I am asking what else could it be. Any help would be appreciated.

If you did all those options above to solve software issues, I'd start testing out the hardware.

It isn't likely, but I'd try a spare PSU just for the hell of it too, if you have one.

If neither of those suggestions work, did you say you were not able to use the built in restore feature of Win 7? You may get lucky and recover back to an earlier snapshot from before you had the power outage.

Grab your Windows 7 install DVD and boot setup. Hit Shift+F10 to bring up recovery console. Run a chkdsk on your drive:

chkdsk c: /f

if your disk has the small 100MB partition at the start, you might need to run chkdsk on other drives as well (try D: and E:, in addition to C:)

Also try what Cmustang87 suggested and recover a previous snapshot. This can also be done from the "Repair" setup menu.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I will try it as soon as I get home. I also discovered that my windows disc is messed up so I am trying to figure out a way around that. Thanks

Aight What the heck was i doin wrong not holding my mouth right or wut. Here is what happened I get home and my pc is on and I ask the wife what happened and she said she turned it on and it came on. Ok now I did finish the update and restarted the pc again. It came back on and started up just fine. So it is working for now lol. Thanks for all your help guys.
