so.... I got a couple copies of windows 7(64 bit) one for my laptop one for wifes desktop. well she would rather keep vista(for whatever reason).. so decided i wanted to put it on my netbook, but i need a 32bit version... dunno if its worth the hassle of contacting microsoft or not to get the media.. i just got a wild hair and thought about putting it on there.. only to see "cpu isnt compatible" and the big DUH in my head as i remember its 64.. so.. yeah... just venting i guess since she doesnt wanna "hear about my pc shit" lol.... :(

Curious: what were her reasons for wanting to stick with Vista?

I'd try to "acquire" it through the usual channels. I know it's not exactly legal, but you do have a valid license. If you'd rather not do that, try finding a friend who has a 32-bit disc? Even if it's a different edition, you can always delete the ei.cfg

my wife is well, she is comfortable with what she has... and thats the way she wants it left.. i have learned to not ask questions and just /nod and "yes dear"

yeah i looked on ebay for just the 32 bit dvd but no real luck there.. i may asking a few friends if they have one

//nevermind scratch that..if you have any friend who have access to the elms site, you may be able to snag a 32 bit iso.

I thought all copies let you choose between the 32 and 64 bit installation. I guess not.

retail 7 actually comes with a 32 and 64 disk, this was through the school e-mail addy deal.. and i downloaded the 64bit ISO/installer

I can get you a MSDN copy, if that'd work with your key. You only need the ISO, not the key, so it should still be legit, I believe.

"acquiring" it via other "channels" may or may not be legal or in accordance with terms.
So, we're not going to discuss it here.
