Hi

I am trying to install windos 7 on my computer, asus motherboard with Core i7,
but the installation refuses to boot , with the message "cant find boot manager".
What is even more strange is that I managed to install windows xp without any problem.

I tried to set all kind of different modes in bios but nothing helps.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks!

this right after booting from cd or after the first restart during the install?

Is the DVD bootable on another system? Are you starting with a blank, unformatted drive?

if the disc doesnt work on another system obviously try reburning (if you burned it obviously). This part should work regardless if a drive is in the system or not.

Yes it boots on another computer. The dvd Pioneer is "ide" model numer DVR-116D while the harddrive is "sata". Can it have something to do with the ide / sata connections?

No, it shouldn't. I would reburn the DVD, or follow any of the many guides online to making a bootable USB flash drive to install Windows 7 from, and give that a shot. At least it would eliminate the variable of the disc.

Ya I suggest trying with a flash drive thats what I did with my laptops...actually seems to move a bit faster over usb somehow
