Windows 7 activation.

I recently reformatted and used an install disk I downloaded from Microsoft since no disk came with this PC.

I am getting a warning the product key is wrong, and that I need to purchase a new one.

What happens if I ignore these warnings?
 
Some keys won't activate if SP1 is not installed. Try again after updating if you haven't.

If that doesn't work, click "use automated phone system" and call the 800 number. Sometimes keys won't activate if they've been used too many times recently, even on the same machine.
 
I have copies of almost all the OEM Windows discs, and I will ship for a reasonable cost.

I just did this last week, very easy. it's an automated call, so no one will bug you about your license.
 
where from MS did you download the image and when?

it is not likley an OEM that came installed on your computer originally.
