I installed Windows 7/64 back in January (after a HD crash) replacing Vista/64. A week ago I had another HD crash and replaced the c:\ (OS and programs) drive with a SSD.
Do I need to reinstall the chipset drivers? I've been told that Windows 7 covers a lot of the basics like chipset drivers.
FWIW, I'm running an Asus P5B-E mobo.
Also, once the chipset drivers are updated/installed, do they reside in ROM or on the HD/SSD? If in the ROM, I'd think there's no need to update them unless an updated driver becomes available, regardless of whether or not the OS HD has been replaced. Is this correct?
And what's an easy way to check on the version of chipset drivers installed? SIW?
Thanks!
