I was just re-calculating the Windows Experience Index on my box, and I clicked the "View and print detailed performance and system information" and I noticed something a bit strange-- it reports that my video card's direct X version capabilities as DirectX 10. Anyone know why that is? I'm using the latest 9.11 betas.

You probably haven't installed the latest directX update which adds dx11 support.

Just go to the microsoft website or google directx and download/install the latest updates :)

Mine does the same thing. It doesn't mean anything. If you want some conformation about the DX level you have installed, open up the start menu and type in dxdiag.exe.

Windows 7 comes with DX11 built in. Vista needs an update to add it.

Ahh k, im still running rc1 which i dont think came with it.

Good to know though :)

So anyone have any insight as to why it would report DX10 in that area? My dxdiag says 11, sure, but the area that says DX10 is reporting on the specs of the video card which has me a little worried. Anyone?

Im the same as intocracy, dxdiag says 11, but under Performance information and tools, It say 10.
Im guessing dxdiag is the installed version of DirectX, yet under PIT, it the version that the video card supports.

He's running a 5800 card just as I am. My guess is the Microsoft didn't update the list of available DX versions in WEI. If OP is truly worried though, download Unigine Heaven benchmark and run in DX11 mode with tessellation on. If you don't see spikes on the dragon or have slopes instead of stairs, then there is something wrong. But, I guarantee that everything is ok with your rig.

Seems like a big thing to overlook, since a lot of people judge their systems on that score and that they use that to market systems. Anyone with a 5800 series card report DX11 in that area, or is everyone seeing DX10? I've run the Unigine demo, but I honestly didn't pay attention if there were spikes or not. I'll download it again.

^ Bump. I'm curious about this issue and if I'm in the minority here. As you can imagine, after spending so much on a DX11 card I'd like to see it say it supports it ;) But, if everyone else with the 5870 is seeing the same thing, no big deal then. 5870 owners-- can you chime in? Thanks to everyone who has as well.
