What are you talking about? NT4 ran on some 64-bit arches years ago, and there's XP/64 for Itanium already! :D

That was on DEC Alphas which supposedly ran like crap anyways.

THere is 2003 server on the Itanium, not windows XP

Wanna bet on that?

The machine next to me is running 64 bit XP right now.

Or are you only speaking of a version fro the itanium? This is on an A64 machine.
In which case I take that back :)

the version of windows XP and 2003 for the AMD 64 are still in beta, they haven't came out officially yet

There is XP/64 for Itanium. We have an HP I2000 at work that's running it. I believe Microsoft canned XP/Itanium recently, though.

We don't use it (the I2000) for much any more. :)

Yeah, I know about the DEC Alpha NT4/2KRC1 port...It did run like crap. Our RIP machine at my old job was an NT4/Alpha box...

By any chance was it a RIP for a QMDI runnin the Harliquin(sp) RIP software?

If so I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. My work had one. Then I bought a new copy of the software and replaced it with a 3.2 P4 on Win2000 (they didn't support 2003).

One NT4 machine left (2045 RIP, dual 900mhz P3, slow as hell) at my work because to get a 2000 machine /w support Xerox wants 15,000. We're going to have a spare dual Xeon open up in a month or so, so I'm going to swap the PCI cards out and see if the software runs on 2000 or 2003. Then just keep the old box for when service comes...

Ours was a Fiery/QMS RIP...Single 600MHz 21164A. Was part of a whole Fiery/QMS image-processing deal. I didn't work with it much besides starting RIP jobs before leaving in the evening.

I remember that they released a software update to fix the progress bar...Previously, it would hit 100% a fixed amount of time after a job started and continue drawing outside the box and across the screen...I found that humorous.

It will be released as soon as Intel has their 32-64 bit proc out. Fucking Wintel alliance.
