Now that Windows 10 is out, post your GPU / Driver / DXDIAG Feature Level Support as indicated.

This should help people figure out what video cards support what levels of DX12.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

GeForce GTX TITAN (Kepler) - 353.62

Direct3D API Version: 12
Direct3D Feature Level: 11_0

Feature Levels: 11.0, 10.1, 10.0, 9.3, 9.2, 9.1

Gefore GTX 980 (Maxwell) 353.62

Direct3D API Version: 12
Direct3D Feature Level: 12 (if I'm looking at the right thing)

Feature Levels: 12.1,12.0,11.1,11.0,10.1,10.0,9.3,9.2,9.1

as far as Nvidia I thought the 980 Ti was the only graphics card announced thus far to support DirectX 12’s 12.1 feature level

AMD R9 280x (Tahiti XT) 15.7.1

Direct3D API Version: 12
Direct3D Feature Level: 11.1

Feature Levels: 11.1, 11.0, 10.1, 10.0, 9.3, 9.2, 9.1

Funny, AMD said GCN 1.1 was supposed to support Level 12.0; yet this is showing it isn't.

Depends on how you look at it. AMD is the only one with Tier 3 binding. Intel has some exclusive features in their GPU that AMD and Nvidia are missing. So saying Company A, B, or C is more advanced at this point is pointless. That's what I learned from the actual launch.

I'm looking at it from Windows/DX itself is telling you it apparently isn't if that is what it's showing you. Look at what it shows for all Maxwell v2 cards in this thread. It should be reporting a feature level of 12.0 for you. But it isn't.

Look at the article I posted:

One common concern from gamers is that if their cards only support DirectX 12 11_1 or 12_0, they’ll miss out on what DirectX 12 has to offer. It’s important to remember that the multi-threading and multi-GPU capabilities of DirectX 12 that we’ve seen previewed to-date (and demonstrated via Mantle) are still completely available to every feature level. Kepler and older GCN GPUs will absolutely benefit from the new capabilities DirectX 12 delivers. With that said, there are some specific capabilities baked into DirectX 12_0 and 12_1 that gamers with older cards won’t have access to — but as the charts above show, this isn’t a problem unique to AMD, Nvidia, or Intel. No current Intel IGP supports DirectX 12_0, while only Nvidia’s Maxwell hardware supports 12_0 or 12_1.

Right, and that image shows Feature Level 12.0 should be shown in his DXDiag for his 290 as it's GCN 1.1. But it isn't. It also shows 12.1 and 12.0 should be shown for Maxwell v2, and it is as seen by users in this thread. So something is up. What gives?

Nvidia does not support all of the features of DX12.
AMD does not support all of the features of DX12.
Intel does not support all of the features of DX12.

I think that explains it all in a nutshell. MS, Nvidia, AMD, and Intel have convoluted the definition of DX12 support to an asinine degree. ;)

And that does nothing to clarify why if that chart reflects Maxwell v2 supports DX 12.1, andDXDiag reflects that, why does the chart reflect GCN 1.1 supports DX 12.0, but DXDiag does not reflect that?

Is DXDiag wrong for only the GCN 1.1 card for some reason while not being wrong for other cards? If so, why? Is it GCN 1.1 does not actually support DX 12.0? What gives?

at least this time a new version of DX doesn't require a new GPU...for that MS deserves a lot of credit...the DX12 feature level numbers do seem a bit complicated but I'd rather have that then forced upgrades to get all the features

Nvidia does seem to have more feature/level support for DX12 at the moment then AMD

Not really @polonyc2. None of them even cover all of DX11. The chart isn't too confusing. It's easy to see that none of the 3 have an overall solution. I'm a hot or cold type of person. I'm not a fan of lukewarm. :)

The issue has been further confused by claims that Maxwell is the only GPU on the market to support “full” DirectX 12. While it’s true that Maxwell is the only GPU that supports DirectX 12_1, AMD is the only company offering full Tier 3 resource binding and asynchronous shaders for simultaneous graphics and compute. That doesn’t mean AMD or Nvidia is lying — it means that certain features and capabilities of various cards are imperfectly captured by feature levels and that calling one GPU or another “full” DX12 misses this distinction. Intel, for example, offers ROV at the 11_1 feature level — something neither AMD nor Nvidia can match.
