Well it's nearing time(waiting for the new Intel quad-cores) for me to build a new rig. I've been using this 2.4GHz P4 + 6800GT rig for a while(I forget; maybe four or more years) and it's served me well, but it's showing age(sounds like a buzzsaw where it was whisper quite when I first got it) and there's no way I'm going to try playing Crysis or Bioshock on this thing.

Anyway, I've only got two cases in mind for my next build. The first being a twice7 cube from mountainmods.com and the second being a CM Stacker 830.

I REALLY like the Stacker 830 but it uses a lot of mesh which I don't like because I imagine the thing would be a dust magnet. So I was wondering would it be worth it trying to mod the 830 with windows to replace the meshes? If so, where should I start? (I've never modded a case before. Should I get a window kit or go into a hardware store and ask for a sheet of plexiglass?).

Also, are there any sites out there that sell pre-modded stackers? I'll even settle for a windowless(solid sidepanels) version if they exist.

You may also want to look into the Antec p182. It is very quiet with its 3 layer side panels. It has great cable management, and good airflow. It also has dust filters in the front where the intake fans are, you just pop em out and clean em. It has no window in the side panel (helps keep it quiet), but you can purchase pre-modded side panels with a great big window off of some sites.

I did a window mod on my Tsunami with only a dremel. Although it is rather light aluminum, and I don't think the dremel would do so well on thick steel which I think the Stacker is. You would probably need to use something bigger to cut, but if you have the guts and the tools to do it it's actually kind of fun and fulfilling ;)

If not though, there are mod sites around which sell things like that, although I'm not sure which do work on the Stacker 830 specifically. Try crazypc.com, that's the only one off the top of my head that does custom work. Maybe xoxide.com ?
