Window mod on SG05

So it's been a few months since I got to use my Dremel. I've been thinking about putting a window along the video card side of my SG05 and slapping in some 4 inch UV lights since the HIS IceQ 5770 I have in there is UV reactive.

Due to the size and the old school case cover on the SG05 I'm thinking about just doing it myself instead of using a window kit from CrazyPC like I normally do. I've hear rumors that Home Depot/Lowes stocks everything needed (plexiglass, rubber molding, ect..). Has anyone gone the Home Depot/Lowes route?
 
I've gotten plexiglass from them before. Depending on your store they should have all manner of thicknesses. Colors, I don't know as all I saw was clear.

As for the molding, I'd stick to uchannel. Might be able to find it in an auto parts store. If not, get it online as it's the easiest and I've never seen it in a Menards, Home Depot or Ace.
 
Lowes sells acrylic, they don't have plexiglass though. (at least not at my local store)
Negative on the molding/u-channel also (or again at least not at my local store).
 
Well what i did on my suitcase computer to get a seal on it I used the hard plastic wire sleaving, the kind you use on cars Not the nylon ones we use on computer wires it also rounded out the edges nicely if you wanted that effect
 
Gotten lucky so far. Home Depot had Plexiglas replacements for picture frames that were 8" x 10" x 0.220" for $1.99. My local Autozone had chrome 1/8" molding for $13 a spool (waaaaay more then I need but I'll have some for future mods now).

I saved enough money on parts the wife is letting me buy a Craftsman cordless drill.

My plan is to put clear packing tape on both sides of the Plexiglas to help strengthen it for the cutting. I'm also going to drill a series of small holes on one side of it to draw in fresh air for the 5770.

How should I attach the window? Industrial strength double-sided tape? Glue? Bolt it on?

I'll post pics tomorrow evening when I actually start the project.
 
My home depot sells plexi as well as acrylic.

Autozone, advanced auto, orielly auto parts all sell uchannel molding for cars in black and "chrome" which would work great for a window kit.
