Window Media Problem

When I try to set up Window Media I get a error message saying, the video decoder malfunctioned or not installed), I have not idea what to do. I would appreciate any help.

I am using Windows XP.
 
Windows Media Player I'm guessing, you need the codecs for the video/audio. Many people here advise against codec packs, but I find Vista Codecs works great. It's here. (I'm pretty sure it works in XP as well.)
