I had this problem for awhile, but really never bother figuring out why.

I load up winamp and while I'm using winamp I type stuff,in word, excel, online etc.
I noticed when I'm typing sometime I can hear the music stutter for like a milisecond,it's not really bad but I notice it.

So question is what and why is this doing this? I tried another keyboard and it does the same thing. Could it be winamp?

Here is my setup

8rda+ using onboard sound
radeon 9500 pro
Mobile Barton 2500+ @ 2.2
2x 512 1gig corsair ddr 3200
200 Gig Maxtor 7200rpm
liteon keyboard using ps2 connection
Logitech mx700
etc

Winamp 5.03 c
I tried that foobar it still does it.

Also I notice this happens when watching tv on my hauppauge pvr 250.

It must be something to do with the onboard nforce2 sound.

Sorry to dig this one back up from the dead, but i'm experiencing the same problems on my Shuttle AN35(N) Ultra. I'm using the onboard sound and winamp lags when i'm typing. It's really annoying typing full speed and having winamp sound choppy like it's lagging :D

Any solutions? I'm going to see if Shuttle has their own drivers for the onboard sound. Other than that, i'm not sure what the problem could be.

Windows 2000
Winamp v5.04

go into you task manager and see how much priority winamp has over your system, and are you running any distributed computing apps?

I had this problem with winamp or any music I played. I restarted and it seemed to have went away. Still don't know exactly what it was. I also have a shuttle motherboard but I disabled the onboard sound and am using the fortissimo III 7.1 sound card. I don't think it has anything to do with priority settings or what program you use. You might try deleting the keyboard in device manager and restarting.

IMO Winamp is crap. I stopped using it a long time ago because of all the bugs.

Try using windows media player to listen to your music and see if the problem is still there.

Winamp -> Options -> Prefs -> Output plugins -> Configure DirectSound -> Select your soundcard form the dropdown menu on Devices Tab -> Select 'Allow hardware acceleration'

That is what fixes it on every computer I have worked on.
