Last night tried running some updates for Win7 64 such as explored 8 update and other reliability update which thus failed to take at boot. System would roll back and no matter how many times I tried it wouldn't work. The optional updates worked though. Anyone else experience this? Is it because I have a solid state drive which is a clone of another previous installation? This other installation is on an array that I duel boot which has no problem updating. Maybe I need to unplug the other drives?

Thanks.

Try deleting the contents of your C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder

You may have corrupted previously downloaded installers in there.

should be some errors logged in the event viewer that may help

I already tried deleting that folder last night along with adding a reg key to disable roll backs that did nothing. My best assumption is that because its a cloned image of another live partition existing on another drive that maybe windows is confused where to install the update. Thats my best theory. Guess I'm going to have to do a fresh install.

Thanks.
