Win7 doesn't recognize free space on network storage

Hi guys,

Wasn't sure whether to post this in the Network section or here.

So this is the issue I have:

I've got the ASUS RT-N66U router and I recently plugged a 4TB USB drive to it (WD MyBook 3). The drive is formatted as NTFS. I crated a bunch of Samba shares on it using the ASUS Server Center app on the router, like Movies, Pictures etc. It's nice and dandy, but there's one problem - the movies folder is now at 451GB and I'm trying to copy another movie to it (via the network share), however, Windows tells me that there's not enough space. Meanwhile, the hard drive still has ~3TB of free space and I can add files to the folder when the drive is plugged in directly to the computer.

I am having a hard time recognizing where the limitation lies. Is this some Samba problem or something with the way Windows manages network shares? Can I solve this without creating additional shared folders?

I appreciate any help, thank you!

Michal

ugh, I think I found the problem. Can't believe I spent so much time on something so stupid.

Basically, I had a shortcut on one of my partitions to the Movies folder and when I was trying to copy more content to it, Windows notified me that the drive on which the shortcut exists doesn't have enough space, NOT THE NETWORK DRIVE. I didn't notice that at first. Copying directly to the share works.

Sorry and thank you :)
