Searched around but did not find any real answer.

Here is the kicker.

Same exact hardware running win10 has no issues [separate drive]
Both have the latest/last driver for my GPU.

blue screen view showed nv something or basically Nvidia.

Have clean uninstalled and even tried a older driver, no luck.

This one baffles me.

100% stable and sleeps just fine, just won't wake without crashing.

Do you have an ATI video card? This exact issue happens to me, and apparently it's a driver thing. I don't get a BSOD, the system just dies and refuses to do anything.

Edit: And I just saw your post mentions Nvidia. Oy, I can't read. :(

Open a command prompt window in administrator mode and run powercfg to check

powercfg /energy

Ran and it puts a html file in system32 which upon opening goes to firefox and it can't open it, hmm.

I have all energy settings set the same since day one without issue.
I basically have the same config with 10 without sleep/wake problems.

I just tried this command and couldn't open it either but could after cut and paste the file to a non-protected folder. Try that.

Update, grabbed the latest version of DDU and ran it, reinstalled the latest driver for my card and so far I've put 7 to sleep for a few days and it wakes just fine.

I never had to use DDU before but it seems to have fixed the wake issue which was clearly the Nvidia driver.

Hopefully if somebody has the same issues they can try what I did.
