Well, I'm tryin' to install winxp but it says this error # 7 and i'm totally lost.

try searching for it in microsofts database... though that crap never turns up anything useful.... try google also..

try reformatting and reinstalling xp and see if that helps. how far exactly do you get in the installation?

the very first time I tried installing XP it didn't work right. then the next day I started all over and it worked fine. so maybe a good nights rest will fix your problem. :D

SYMPTOMS
During the text-mode portion of Windows Setup, Setup may stop responding (hang) and you may receive one of the following error messages:

The file I386\Ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded. The error code is 7. -or-

The file I386\L_intl.nlf could not be loaded. The error code is 7.
As a result, you cannot install Windows....snip

Cheers,

ooooo that sounds like faulty ram. especially with it not working one day and then the next.
you need to memtest that RAM YO!

well my comp is unformatted yet. bought it new. But I tried installing 98 and it worked.

I've had that error before and it was because of RAM. The memory passed all memtest tests but the board didn't play nice with it.

You through away the box, of an expensive piece of software, before you even installed it. . . . . .
