So I recently installed this into my pc as I am in need of more usb ports. After install I start up my pc and found this error, 0xc000000f. I can still boot into windows but am forced to select my ssd as bootup device. So now I am in windows and everything SEEMS fine but the usb pci card doesn't work, I tried my mouse, xbox controller and external dvd rom, but my rom drive does receive power as the lights goes on. In device manager I found two other "devices" not working, and the devices are....real time clock WTH! And it would seem that every time that I power up my pc I would have to select boot device in order to get into my windows.
My PC specs:
Win 8.1
i5 2500k
Gigabyte z77x ud3h
2x4gig gskill 2133 ram
GT680

Please help!

When removing the pci card the 2 "non working devices" disappear but i am still left with the booting problem.

I will only be back home tommorow so will reinstall the card and take some screenshots of what i can find to be not of the norm. Will give that link a read and see what i can find. Could dust buildup in the pci slot cause the card to not work?

It's unlikely (extremely low probability) but it can happen.

That boot fix seems easy, will give it a try but even if it works i am still stuck with a card that caused the problem. Think ill give the mobo a quick dust blow to make sure no dust is in the slot and then reinstall and see what happens, if it still doesnt install in win i will have to let my friend try it in his pc and see if it isnt faulty since i only have one pc.

UEFI boot fix looks to be on the harder side of things. I hate Command Prompt or anything to do with Dos commands.
EDIT, after about the third read through it doesnt seem to be that hard. It does seem like there is hope to fis the boot, my biggest worry now is the pci card, it is brand spanking new and need it as i only have 2 usb 2.0 on my whole pc and those are on the front panel of my case. Would like to move my mouse, keyboard and Xbox 360 controller to the pci card to free up some slots for my sticks and 2.5 hdds. Hate having to stand up and go around to the back of my pc just for that

Just of note, after installing the pci card, the black screen with the 0xc000000f error says something about detected hardware change and is unable to locat boot device, something like that. Hope that helps. But will post pics of it later.

Update
Okay I have some good news and some bad news.
The good news is that the boot problem was that some how my boot priority got messed up and changing my SSD to boot priority 1 fixed that.
Bad news, reinstalled the pci card and still nothing.
Some more info, with the card installed my pc fails to boot, the lights goes on but nothing on my screen. I am forced to hold the power button down(shutdown) and the re-start my pc for it to post ect.
One a side note, with card installed there seems to be about 1cm space of the pci slot that isn't being used by the card, since the card cant be installed any other way I take it that is normal?

This is a dumb question but I a cant find a way to add an image for my pc to this thread. All I have is add picture from link:eek:

Some pictures would help if you can post them.

You would need to upload to an image hosting site. A good one is imageshack.com. Another one is imgur.com.

This is a screenshot of the two real time clocks devices that show that the drivers isn't installed and that the usb pci card doesn't even list under universal serial bus controllers. Removing the card fixes the boot problem and removes the real time clock errors.

A PCIe card can be shorter than it's slot (e.g. x8 card in an x16 slot), but a PCI (no '-e') card should fill the slot. I'd like to see a good pic or what you're describing.

Looking at Wikipedia, those last four pins are for power and 64-bit connection, which your card probably isn't, it's most likely just 32-bit. Those last four most likely have nothing to do with the problems you're seeing.

A more likely scenario is simply incompatibility between that card and the chipset. I have seen it happen. There are certain DVR PCI cards that would only work with Intel and VIA chipsets, and I don't even know if it would work with newer Intel chipsets.

Damn.
I also read that it supports only Win up to Vista but I can see that as a problem.

No doubt about it being a 32-bit card, 64-bit PCI cards have a much longer slot (look up PCI-X).

They skipped on size compliance to save a few cents, so there's no telling what other places they cheaped out on making the card unusable on systems that could just barely be compliant with the PCI spec (it is a dead standard afterall). It could also be a resource conflict. Try putting it in another slot if you have one. If that doesn't help, pack it up and send it back.
