Installing my first Win7 pc on our domain and can't get it to communicate with the WSUS server.

I've done a whole slew of things including re-creating WU on the pc. Deleted and recreated the SoftwareDistribution folder. Ran a registry fix, installed KB947821 which is a Win7 system update readiness hotfix. I keep getting Code 8007000D error. I've done everything that came up on google. Nothing works. It's some kind of outbound communication error from the pc.

Event viewer is showing this when the pc points to WSUS:

When I change it back to point to Windows Update on the internet it works fine.
Also my wsus server sees the pc and even will show me what's been installed on the pc, but it shows on the list that it hasn't reported in. Even turned off windows firewall but that didn't do anything either.

How are you telling it to go to your WSUS server via GPO or registry hack?

WSUS v2 on sql2000. It is downloading Win7 updates and servers were updated and rebooted this past weekend.

From my understanding, and I could very well be wrong, you will need WSUS v3.0 SP2 in order for Windows 7 clients to be supported.

Yeah I was just looking on the WSUS forums and that may very well be the case. :(
Oh well upgrade is overdue....
