Win 7 Mirroring - Failed Redundancy

Hey guys,

I stupidly used the onboard "fake" win7 raid 1 to setup a RAID1 mirror with my two new WD20EARS (2TB 64MB cache) drives as media/etc disks to my 64GB ssd.

I mounted one as a NTFS formatted disk, copied over some data (80GB worth).

Setup the 2nd disk as a mirror of the first disc.

Win7 was syncing the 2 disks, when the idiot that I am I continued using my computer as normal with a couple of shutdowns over the course of a few days.

I then noticed that the disks were complaining about a failed redundancy, but I could still access all the data fine.

I then proceeded to copy over 1.3TB of data onto the mirrored drives.

I now want to break the mirrored drives to fix this redundancy, but I am unsure of which drive the data correctly lives on as one of the disks is not in sync with the other.

How can I find out which drive the data is actually living on (as I can access the 1.3TB+ that lives on the "mirrored" drives) so I can remove the other drive from the mirror then readd and resync [1]?

Sorry for the long read, but I wanted to be thorough.

[1] After removing the 2nd disk, can I setup a hardware raid using my motherboard onboard RAID controller without losing the data? I am running a X58A-UD3R, I know this is not possible with RAID0 but it should be with RAID1, afaik you can setup a RAID1 at anytime.

Thanks!

just poining out the motherboard is also fake software raid, u would have to buy a controller for real hardware RAID.

Good to know.

Anyone have any suggestions? Other then find another 2tb disk to copy the data to?
