Will the new mobile yonah's work on current alviso chipset mobos?

Not on production laptops... no. You'll have to get a lappy with the 945 chipset.

What about on motherboards like the AOpen i915GMM-HFS or the MSI SpeedStar that have upgradeable BIOS's and such.

915 doesnt have the dual core logic. A bios update wont give it that, for one thing.

For another, Yonah has a different package than Banias/Dothan. It's not physically compatible with those boards. There isnt a board for sale in the states that will run Yonah besides a notebook's motherboard.
