his computer is an older
ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 LGA 775 VIA PT880 Pro/PT880 Ultra ATX Intel Motherboard with an intel core2 6300 processor. this board supported ddr1 and 2 as well as PCI and AGP graphics
the PCI Express is only 4x.
right now it has an old ati 9800 pro agp card in it.
I was going to upgrade it to a 4830 and not sure how it will work on this x4 slot
should it work ok ?
 
If that's all he does...why even bother updating the videocard? What is in there now should suffice what he's using the computer for.
 
No games? Just get a HD 4350 for him. Low power, less noise and great for HD viewing.
 
well I checked and he did try D2 lod once :)
yes I got one of the $60 4830 HD's. I was going to use it to mess with the HDMI on a tv while gaming for him. He doesn't have the best eyes so a 60" might be better than his 19"

I remember seeing D2 on his system. He has a 19" dell lcd monitor and the explosions were terrible. pixilated and jerky. Not sure but I believe its the monitor and not the video card.
