Will this void warranty?

More than likely yes. Since you have to remove the HSF from the unit. And not to say it would be you, but some people put too much "goo" on the chip and when it leaks out the side, it may short out the PCB. AS5 is conductive. :)
 
Alright, Yes I thought it would I just wanted to confirm, I wanted it to run cooler, these things get hot under load, but o well, id rather be safe for replacement in case it breaks down on me.

Edit: Im just kida one of those guys that like taking something and making it better :cool:
