Will this old rig still game?

I have an AMD 8350, with 16 gig, a 290X, CROSSHAIR V , Win 10, Corsair Snow edition case, and a 2TB 7200 HD.
I have never OCed the rig even with the H100i it has.
It has been sitting for quite a while.
I am planning on giving it to my son as a gaming rig but even at free I don't want him disappointed.
I am tossing in a 1080P monitor.

What do you H people think? Will it still game for a couple of years?
 
Wife uses a similar build, i5 3470 with a 7970, best friend still using an 8350 and 280x, both working fine at 1080
 
Appreciate the input. Hoping he can get two years assuming he can get an 8 gig vid card.
 
A 290X still has some value as a miner also. If he has cheap enough electricty rates it could be worth running in the off time to offset the cost of a new video card when they become available. A 1060 would match the hardware perfectly but not at 200% MSRP
 
Thanks, I will be setting it up for him this weekend. Damn Win 10 install left the MB drivers out and they don't provide them on the web site.
