I have come to take on the ASUS chipset cooler fan problems..
im not really thinking about contacting ASUS for the problem... i dont care.. i just know that i need to get it fixed... so im in the market for Chipset coolers. And im looking around and not really seeing anything eye poping with performance... until i saw this.. and emeidiatly i thought it will be bad ass.. but then i thought that later on SLI mihgt be a conflict for this cooler...

http://www.frozencpu.com/vid-64.html

it looks pretty nice... but it looks pretty big.. and im wondering if anyone had one or just knows that its going to create problems down the road.

if you think this is overkill and you know of one that works well with SLI in the future and with great cooling, please feel free to mention it...

you could try contacting Asus for a Cool-pipe... it should fit right on, just use some arctic ceramique and you should be good to go.

if it dosnt fit.. then ill shave the rounded edges off of the sides...and to the person about the other cooler from asus... would it be free?... free shipping as well?.

The cooler linked to above looks actually quite nice, and SHOULD fit...but giving Asus a quick shout/email may be another solution as noted above. I actually wasn't aware of that cooler previously, and might look into seeing if it could be made to work with my DFI Lanparty RDX200 CF-DR in the futre.

yeah it seems there is a slight market for the chipset coolers.. and this one seems pretty sweet.
i gave ASUS a email, and they say to email RMA.. but my board is fine :S and there is no way on gods earth im taking this board out for RMA for a damn chipset cooler. ;)
good to see you post cornelious

No problem man.

I know I've seen Abit actually have replacement chipset coolers available for sale, but if Asus actually wants you to RMA the whole board I'd just go with something aftermarket for now to save time, and save the stock cooler if you have to RMA the actual mobo in the future.

there is no way i can turn this cooler down though... ill probly run it passive, i have a 120 blowing from my hdds to my video card and it will fit right in there... thoes fan are a pain... less then 5 CFM.. my 12" sub next to my case will cool it better... :D....i know it will fit with my soon to be 2 6600GTs.. but i told myself DX10 is around the corner and would be dumb to upgrade before it... unless a really great deal comes through... and im assuming with the G80 that these cards are most likely to be massive so im hoping this cooler can last.. or until i get a better board with sufficient cooling.

Passively it should work fine too if you have sufficient airflow in the general area.

oh yeah! i got lots... 4 120mm in my case 2 that can do 50db+ 105cfm.... :D for the hot days that are coming :p

probly going to make one of thoes fans be my hdd mounted one for the cooler

Good stuff, sounds like a real screamer.

I must say, done proper a case can look very nice with multiple 120mm fans...I'm actually trying to find a good way to do it myself without going overboard with my next case.

knowing you your going to get a nice LianLi :D

the loud 120mms are of course on fan controller.. going to get a new one of thoes too.. friend has one of thoes discontinued silver nexus fan controllers 3.5", the one i want

You got it...just left deciding which one...probly a PC-7B that already has front and rear 120mm fans, so that I could go as far as to have two 120mm's up top as exhaust fans and anywhere from 2-4 120mm's on the side panel...covering the mobo and everything else in fresh air.

I'd have to do some math and make sure to even out the intake/exhaust cfm to keep things balanced...but I think it'd be pretty fun.
