Lately I've been having trouble runing Prim95 indefinately on what previously were thought to be stable overclocks. After trying out different combinations and seeing weird patterns, I'm starting to think it's the PSU not putting out enough volts. Now one of the reasons I've come up with this recently is I discovered my Mobo pulls volts for the CPU off the 5V rail, and my 5v Rail isn't the most stable with my 350 Watt Enermax.
The thing I have been noticing recently is I can run prime 95 for variable amounts of time. Sometimes it'll run 2 hours, sometimes it will run 40 hours before an error occurs. Now I've been watching my volts, and I see that my 5V rail varies from 4.7-4.9V. My CPu voltages vary from 1.84 - 1.90. Now I Have yet to notice a clear pattern on whether there's a weird voltage drop when my prime 95 fails. Woul getting a new PSU that pumps out more amps to the 5 volt rail help me achieve a more stable overclock? Or is my CPu the culprit?
