Will there be a 4970X?

I've been wondering about a 4970X as well. At some point a leaked roadmap will hopefully turn up and provide the user base with a better idea. Too bad these top end Intel parts cost so much.

Only a person with too much money and not enough brains buys a 4970x over a 4960x..........

Frankly buying the 'X' part over the normal 'K' hexcore is stupid unless you are aiming for an overclocking record...

Its really not. Please explain to me the point of a 4970x over a 4960x? Whats the difference? 100-200mhz STOCK? Obviously if you are buying this CPU, you will be overclocking it. If you really think that a 4970x will overclock that much better than a 4960x, there is something wrong.

And there is an advantage over the K series compared to the X bwang. X carries 15mb L3 cache whereas K carries only 12mb. Most people wont know, but it can make a small difference in gaming/benchmarks if you are really pushing it.

Is it worth the $400-500 premium? Probably not, but at least there is more than a multiplier difference.
