Will the nvidia video card drivers allow you to run an AGP 8x card at 4x? The problem is that my motherboard gets flaky at 8x and I want to buy a 6600GT to upgrade from my 9600Pro. Thanks in advance. I don't have an nvidia card to test this with.

You can set in drivers (or in bios - i think) what agp speed you want your card to run at..

Ok, I don't see this anywhere in my drivers (nvidia gpu), so maybe in bios? I know I could change AGP speed when I had 9800 in drivers..
 
Well my 5700 can run at 8x, 4x, and 2x

So im pretty sure a 6600 can backstep to 4x
 
I can't set the AGP level in my bios...can you do it through the nvidia drivers? That's really what I need to know.

You can adjust that setting in Rivatuner, but not through the drivers. It´s possible that there is a "hidden" option, but I doubt that.
 
If I use a 6600GT with this board then I will use rivatuner to set the AGP level.

Well, I check in RivaTuner, there is a "knobb" that you can change agp speed (I think..) but..

I can't click on it.. dunno why is that option, but I really dont give a damn since I like to see my running at 8x..

go back into rivatuner, but in the main screen, click the upper arrow, the one under the white box that IDs your card, click low level system settings, then agp, and you can change transfer rate.

Btw, I see that I have 'agp fastwrites' on.. as I remember, some said they get better boost if it's set to 'off' ? I really don't know what does it do tho..
