thnx

No. Technically you cannot measure and visually you can't see any difference between two properly working cables. Cable companies are notorious for making up fake or non existing specs to get your money. They are simply crooks (see Hi-End Audio).

Which DVI?

DVI-D - Nope! doesn't matter if you have a $10 cable or a $1000 cable, they'll both look the same... these cables either work or don't. If they don't you'll see sparkly pixels.

DVI-I - MAYBE. This is an analog signal over DVI. Any improvement would be marginal at best.

I vote a sticky that will answer this weekly question so we can't see them anymore, right BillR?

Heh, and it’s only Monday…(Ok, Tuesday AM) ;)

I just glanced at this and almost passed on it. It’s a tired argument at this point. Almost as bad as the CRT vs LCD debate that rages on.

For some one to actually state that “Technically you cannot measure and visually you can't see any difference between two properly working cables.” Is so far beyond the realm of ignorance it’s not even funny anymore.

The people who say “Digital is digital and wire make no difference” are just as bad. The exact same thing holds true for analog.

Try typing “digital signal propagation” in to Google people and be amazed at how much money is spent on the little things like measuring the amount and type of solder is best let alone a piece of wire.

People come to forums to be informed, thus it would seem that anyone posting would take the time to look up some facts before they spread their “opinion” as fact.

I really don’t give a hoot what people do or don’t buy, but it’s not right to pawn your “expert opinion” off as fact unless you can back it up, regardless of the subject.

There should indeed be a few stickys here as there are in many of the forums, but beyond that why can’t people take a few moments and search what’s already been written on a subject?
