Will my x800XT PE hit bottleneck?

I just ordered the card and was wondering if it would bottleneck considerably on the following system :

Amd 64 3000+ on Abit KV8Pro
1 Gig Kingston Value
agp x800XT PE 256
SB Live 5.1
and so on....

I don't overclock my cpu; it's temperature (at least by the outside what the case display says usually runs between 78-82 F, I've seen it at 90 perhaps. But that's like 20-30 C. Overclocking only helps so much, but how much would it help a video card's bottlenecking?

If that CPU is a winchester, I would suggest overclocking the crap out of it.

If overheating is your concern, get this :

I would have to say though, if you don't overclock your system, then your video card will be a bit bottlenecked by that CPU. I had a 3200+ and overclocked the snot out of it and it could barely keep up with my BFG 6800Ultra on Aquamark. (CPU score was 11,900, video card was 12,200)

EDIT: Just saw the motherboard you are using, it's a socket 754 so you don't have a Winchester. Anywho, I still vote overclocking it with better cooling to lessen the bottleneck. Also, check your temperature in the bios of the computer instead of an external thermometer.

I checked my invoice to doublecheck, nah, I got a newcastle core I believe, it's 754 not that fancy 939 jazz.

Just a Socket 754 am 64 3000+ then...

(Btw, how much would my cpu help if it was actually running at 64 bit just in case five years from now when Microsoft gets its shit together with the software companies and makes actual working drivers?

It's not Microsoft. They have actually made a working 64bit Windows. The gaming developers are the ones that need to make their programs 64bit. I'm not quite sure what would happened if they were encoded in 64bit, I guess they would be twice as fast?

I think it will bottlenecked a little but with a X800 XT-PE overclocked you might be able to skip the coming generation of video cards.

I am pretty sure that I will have to get a new video card about a month or two after the new stuff hits the market.

I would only wory about bottlenecking that card if I had an AthlonXP. Your A64 will do fine. Play with higher resolutions and put more strain on the video card rather than the CPU.

Also, run a search on this forum for the new 'newark' core mobile chips comming to skt 754 sometime soon. You might be able to upgrade later with yur existing MB and get enough speed to really push that PE.
