Will my CPU bottleneck a 4870x2?

Hey, I've got a 4870x2 on the way (merry Christmas!), I've been trying to figure out if my Q6600 @ 3.6 will bottleneck it at 2560x1400.

Thoughts? Thanks

yes, but it will play pretty nice . Any CPU you get is going to be a bottleneck really at this time.

What is the difference between a q6600 @ 3.6, and a QX9650 @ 3.66 (like the one used in the test rig for [H] testing)?

besides the extra .06, shouldn't they be almost identical as far as gaming goes? Or am I missing something here?

qx9650 @ 3.66 is a silly waste.

The difference is about $700 US.

differences are:

45nm
1600mhz fsb
more cache (12mb vs 8mb)
and the qx9650 could go higher on the clock than a q6600.

The real world performance difference between your q6600 and the qx9650 is going to be very small.

You've got a ton of cpu power, way more than is being used in most current games, the 4870x2 will be paired up well.

i dont think it will bottleneck it much, oc a bit and it should be fine
