Anyone know is laptops will likely begin including an eSATA port in the near future. I don't mean huge, desktop replacement style laptops but normal to mobile sized laptops? I ask because this will likely influence an external HD purchase I'm about to make.

Also, how does gigabit ethernet speeds to netwrok connected external HDD's (like those MyBook World Books) compare to firewire 400/800? What about 100 base-T speeds compared to firewire 400/800? I know I could look up the speeds of each and compare but I know for instance that while USB 2.0 claims faster theoretical speed that firewire's real world performance with HDD's is actually faster, that's why I ask this.

A few of the Asus models have had eSata for a while now, my Z84J has it, it even was able to boot off esata as well.

The Gateway model from Best Buy (the one that is a ubber deal) has esata.. I have the laptop but I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
