Will i kill it? its my first time overclocking..

CPU: Athlon XP 2100+
Ram: Corsair DDR 3200
HS&F: Spire FalconRock

yeah as long as you dont give it too much voltage over stock, and keep it under 60*C under load it should be fine, if you really wanna overclock perhaps get a thermalright slk900a or something to provide good cooling, that heatsink doesent look that much better than the stock one
 
FYI you may GAIN performance from running your RAM 1:1 at faster timings, Athlons hate asynchronous bus.

And no, nothing will die :) What type of temps you getting? GO FOR MORE! ;)
 
can you change your multiplier?? i would say drop the multiplier if you can.. and try to get that FSB higher!!!!!!!

What would you recomend i set my ram fsb voltage and core at? would be stepping up my AGP help me out too? i run FX5500 256 DDR
 
this is my first time trying to over clock somthing thats not just set bus and multiplyer. (old school P2B) move jumpers till it boots and keep moving them till you get somthing... the bios overclocking menus are WAY MORE picky and advanced...
 
Im open for all suggestions.. where.. what should i do with this monster.. the CPU is about as burned in as its going to get... since i been running diffrent speeds with it for almost a year now.
 
Ok benchmark what you got.

Then try this: 166x13.5, RUN THE RAM 1:1, not 4:5 or 4:6, set the timings to 2-2-2-6.

Let me know how it goes.

Edit: What motherboard is this? If it's a KT600 chipset or a nForce2 crank that FSB to 200MHz, run the RAM 1:1 at whatever timings is stable, and set the multiplier to 11.
 
1.85v on air max.... I dont know the max voltage for a regular T-bred..I only know bartons right off..2.15v max

but anyways keep your temps low 60c is ok on air...high for me tho

but anymore high temps mean jack as with the .13 micron cores it isnt the damn heat that kills its the voltage...specifically the electron migration.
 
I would say go for that 200 FSB!!... but remember to run Prime 95 and memtest 86.. at least i would..you don't wanna fry the thing... it seems like a lot of people on [H[ardforum don't prime test for stabillity
 
I dont get why you are asking if it will die? You see all of the other overclocks here...I dont see what is different about this one. :confused:
 
You have Corsair PC3200, can it do faster timings? My OCZ does 2-3-2-6..
 
I just talked to him. Won't run past 175MHz.. Ah well :)
