Will it bottleneck? ( i7 2700k)

Hi!

I'm currently looking to replace my two GTX 580 Super Overclock SLI, was thinking on buying the GTX 1070 STRIX. I will mostly use it for games such as CS:GO, Dota2 and PUBG (PlayerUnkownsBattleground). I will only be playing in 144Hz, 1080p.

My question is, will it bottleneck with my CPU?

Specs:

Mobo: Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z

CPU: Intel i7 2700K (O.C 4.2 GHz)

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 2 x 8GB 1600MHz DDR3

PSU: Corsair AX1200

Your CPU will not, but your RAM will have an effect on minimum FPS and cause stuttering. Get the fastest RAM your motherboard can support, which will probably be 2133 MHz, or maybe 2400 MHz.

But in the motherboard manual it says 1333/1600 MHz.

Make sure your mobo's BIOS is up to date and try 2133Mhz RAM using the XMP profile. I've googled around reading about your board, and it looks like people are able to do it. 2400 isn't out of the question either.

Alright, quick question...would it give me more benefits to O.C to 4.6GHz rather than 4.2GHz?

(it would yield a 9.5% performance increase for free)

No, upgrading your RAM from 1600mhz to 2133mhz is not worth the investment!

Why spend over $100 for, at best, a 5-10% increase in minimum fps?!??

Especially now with RAM prices inflated like they are....

The whole idea is just silly IMO.

I don't think anyone said he should go out and buy new ram. They told him to basically see if he could OC his.

I've got the Noctua NH-U12P atm. I got my GTX 1070 today, i went with the EVGA 1070 FTW. ANd it is working perfect. Couldn't have been better!

I have a 2500K @ 4.2 w/ 1070 GTX. My monitor is 60Hz and I rarely, if ever, dip below that @ 1080p ultra settings

Since you are 144Hz on the monitor though my advice... don't worry about your ram or heck, not even necessary to o'c the cpu further...
HOWEVER I'd get a 1080 GTX if you want your min frames above 80FPS. You have a 144Hz monitor you want higher minumum frames

From my journey of going 60Hz to 144Hz on IVB.

You'll definitely see bottleneck aiming for 144Hz. 60Hz is fine.

Anyone who says otherwise is full of shit.

2133 RAM may get you better smoothness than the additional CPU Freq.

I'd start saving for platform upgrade. Don't let that stop you from getting the GPU.

CS:Go and dota probably. it depends on resolution and settings. without those you cant really measure anything.
