5770's CF even with the 5770 memory is 128 bit and DX11.. I'm apologize if I'm beating a dead horse. I did a search on the forums and came up with a few things but nothing I could use to make my decision on.

Please list the rest of your specs and the res you plan to play at. A 5770 is pretty much as fast as a 4870 but the 5770's scale VERY well in crossfire, but not enough for there to be a noticeable difference. Unless you NEED dx11 and eyefinity then I would keep your current setup. If you do need dx11 and eyefinity then I would go with a 5970 if you want a noticeable boost in FPS.

Asus M3A79-T-Deluxe
4GB OCZ Reaper 1066
PII x 4 3.2
21.5" Asus running @ 1920 x 1080

Also would love to get a 5970 but I'm a old, cheap and think 600 is a little high for a video card.. and the 5870's are high IMHO..

Hmm, I really don't see a need for you to upgrade as your 2x 4870s will be maxing that setup. In fact if you went any higher end your CPU would be bottlenecking your video cards at that point.

Framerate-wise you wouldn't notice the difference between 2x 4870 and 2x 5770 but you'd get DX11 and the ability to add a 3rd monitor for Eyefinity. That's about it. So in your case, there's not a strong reason to upgrade unless you're doing your whole system as well.

Not at this point.. I think I will snag two 5770 to CF in my kids machine... they are running a 8800GTX

Sounds like a good plan and your kid is getting a pretty big upgrade there. This is going to sound obvious but make sure his mobo supports crossfire.

If not then I will take the 5770. :). and then give my wife a 4870 and my kids a 4870... both will be upgraded from a 8800GTS / 8800GTX. But yes theirs support X-Fire..

I agree, but that would be the only real worthy (IMO) upgrade from crossfire 4870's. If these are the 1gig models then even more so.
