Ok I'm finally bold enough to take my 3.2c P4 up to 3.4

What do I need to do? and will I notice a performance gain?

Go into the bios and change the Bus speed to about 213. I hope you have memory that will do DDR433. That much overclocking will gain you a few points in the benches and some more bandwidth but not much. Most likely not noticable, unless you game. You might see a few more FPS.

since you have ddr433 ram you might as well raise the fsb to 216. i believe raising the speed of the ram from 213 to 216 wont force you to relax your ram timings so you might as well raise fsb to 216 to get a 256mhz OC which isnt too bad.

Alrighty, nothing should go wrong right?

nor sohuld I have to adjust the voltage?

oh i gotcha sry lol

lol no need to apologize

i doubt you would need to raise the voltage with such a low OC, but do run prime95 for a 24+ hours just to make sure the system is stable.

going to 3.4 is only a 6% overclock....youll barely notice it

He may not notice it, but if he ever drops back down, he'll probably notice it. I left my PC at 3.1ghz for a few months, then had to drop it down to 2.8 from the hot summer weather here in Vegas and an A/C that didn't work. Those few milliseconds I lost drove me up the wall :)

going from 200mhz fsb (3200mhz) to 216mhz (3456mhz) fsb is a 8% overclock in fsb, memory, and cpu clock speed which doesnt sound too bad, but in real world performance he may or he may not notice the difference.. i guess he'll just have to find out :)
