Wasnt it advertised how much better the 6800s would be with DX9.0c (back in early '04)...
bah
Since we haven't seen any HL2 benchmarks yet I'd wait until it's released before saying which card performs better. HL2 uses the Source Engine and in Source Engine tests in CS: Source, the 6800 series actually does pretty well against the X800 cards. The X800XT-PE will probably be fastest in HL2 based on it's great D3D and shader speed but the 6800U probably won't be far behind.ATW said:You got Doom3, we get HL2....get over it.

including both api's would mean that we wouldnt have hte game for another 2 years
Don't worry about it. Nvidia is doing very well in Direct 3D front this time around. With each driver revision the gap is becoming smaller and smaller.rcf1987 said:Son Of A Bitch

HL1 sucked in D3D because it was a modified version of the Quake 1 engine, and im sure the OpenGL renderer was a litlte more matured than its bastard D3D step son.

Woah in that case he should get a 9800 prolithium726 said:yet again he has a 5600U i dont think he is worried about the current gen, but rather the craptacular performance of his card in dx9 apps.
...hence the "slapped together" comment
sorry, but "worser" is not a wordApple740 said:Yeah, and the shimmering is becoming worser and worser.
Let them solve this first, then look for performance gains.![]()
wtf are you talking about?
